“Goods” means the products offered for sale by me on this web site and the subject of the order made by you.”You” means the person ordering goods from me.

This page sets out the terms and conditions on which I supply the goods offered on my website at www.sewingdirect.co.uk

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before ordering any goods or services from me.
By ordering any of my goods or services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Your statutory rights are not infringed or reduced by them.

Ordering

All orders are subject to acceptance by me and availability of the requested goods. After placing an order, you will receive an email from me acknowledging that I have received your order. It will specify the goods you ordered, the cost including VAT if applicable and postage and packaging. If for any reason I cannot supply the requested goods I will contact you and if appropriate suggest alternatives.

Despatch by me of your goods signifies acceptance of your order.

Payment

By placing an order you authorise me to process a credit card, debit card or charge card payment for the total sale amount.

Payments made through this website will be processed by PayPal. You do not have to sign up for a PayPal account to use your payment card.

All credit and charge card holders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by the card issuer or PayPal. If the issuer of your payment card or PayPal refuses to authorise payment to me, your order will not be accepted and I will not be liable for any delay or non-delivery.

By prior agreement you may pay me by cheque. If I agree to accept payment by cheque please allow at least seven working days for your cheque to clear.
Cheques must be drawn on a UK Bank and no goods will be dispatched until your payment has cleared through the seller’s bank.

Delivery

Unless agreed in advance to the contrary delivery will be to the address you have provided on the order form within fourteen calendar days after you have placed your order or clearance of your cheque if applicable and in any event within 30 days of the day after your order was placed, or after the clearance of a cheque, unless a later date is agreed by you.
If for any reason I cannot deliver within 30 days or the agreed period I will contact you to discuss your options which will include your entitlement to a full refund of any payment you have made.

A charge, to be agreed in advance of your order, may be made for delivery to any address outside mainland UK or to some areas of the Scottish Highlands.
You may have to pay carriage charges for repairs or replacements under warranty.

Prices

All prices include Value Added Tax at the current rate and delivery charges to the UK mainland are included in the prices quoted. Conditions for trade customers available on request.

Warranties

All goods offered on this site are new and carry the manufacturers’ parts and labour warranties unless stated otherwise and apply only to goods purchased for normal private household use unless stated otherwise. The Bernina extended 7 year warranty applies to new Bernina sewing machines (but not overlockers) bought between 1 August 2013 and 31 December 2016, used for normal domestic purposes only, serviced at the correct intervals and registered through me at the time of purchase.
Pfaff products may be used commercially are then warranted for six (6) months parts and labour excluding belts, hooks, light bulbs, needles, needle plates, and overlock knives. No further warranty applies to Pfaff products used commercially.

Illustrations are not to scale and some variations in appearance may occur.
Colours are for guidance only, I have no control over the settings on the computer or other device you may use to browse.

Your right to cancel

You are entitled to cancel your order for any reason within 14 working days from the day after you receive your goods.
To cancel an order, please contact me Duncan Adams, The Sewing and Knitting Centre, 133 High Road, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 2LL email info@sewingdirect.co.uk or complete and return my cancellation form. A cancellation form is available online at www.sewingdirect.co.uk/cancel-my-order/. Alternatively write to or email me including the same information. If you write on hard copy (paper) you must sign in pen.

Refunds in respect of returned goods and the cost of my standard delivery to you will be within 14 days of receiving the goods back or proof of the return if that is earlier. I will make this refund by using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction.

Goods must be returned unused and in saleable condition suitably packaged with the original packing.
If you have handled the goods more than was necessary to decide if they were suitable, you may be liable to me for compensation up to the purchase price.

You will be responsible for the safety and costs of returning the goods to me and may wish to insure expensive items.

Under no circumstances, other than in the event of faulty goods, will refunds be considered where the manufacturer’s seal has been broken or the packaging of any “software”, medium carrying computer files, memory cards or sticks, disks, Compact Disks (CDs) Digital Versatile Disks (DVDs) or diskettes, has been opened or interfered with.

My right to cancel

I reserve the right to cancel your order if the goods you have ordered are unavailable or discontinued, one or more of the items you ordered was listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical error or an error in the pricing information made by me and/or received by me from my suppliers.
If the goods you order are unavailable I will notify you as soon as possible and offer a suitable alternative or to cancel your order.
If I do cancel your order I will notify you by e-mail or in writing, whichever is appropriate within 14 days of cancellation. I will make this refund by using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction. You will not be entitled to any additional compensation for disappointment suffered.

Events outside my control

I shall have no liability to you for any failure to deliver goods you have ordered or for any delay in doing so or for any damage or defect to goods delivered that is caused by any event or circumstance beyond my reasonable control including, without limitation, third party default, strikes, lock-outs and other industrial disputes, breakdown of systems or network access, flood, fire, explosion or accident.

Third Party rights

Except for my employees or representatives, a person or party not a party to this agreement has no right under the UK Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any part of these terms and conditions. This does not affect any right or remedy of a third party that exists or is available apart from that Act.

Content changes and accuracy of information

I may make changes to the contents of this website, including to the descriptions and prices of goods and services advertised, at any time and without notice.

English language

All matters in relation to this website before, during and after sales, in writing or otherwise will be conducted in the English language.

Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England. All disputes arising out of your use of this website are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
